A brief walk through Alrewas’ past
This March found 23 of us enjoying excellent food and company at The Old Vicarage followed by a very interesting and informative talk and slide show about Alrewas. Liz’s friend Lynne Ingram described Alrewas as the “perfect village” due to its location and amenities, then went on to tell us about some of its very interesting past. Kate Horton said that she had learned quite a lot of things about Alrewas that she was unaware of although she has lived there for more than 40 years.
I attended 41 Club Ladies night and thoroughly enjoyed the evening although was a little surprised at the low attendance. The low numbers have prompted 41 Club to reconsider the current format of Ladies night and we have been asked what our preferences would be. They have suggested changing to a mixed lunch or dinner with an entertaining speaker rather than a formal dinner dance. It all depends on what we ladies would like or prefer.
It was my sad duty to inform everyone that Mary Bailey died on Monday 25th February after suffering a long time with cancer. Mary’s funeral is on Wednesday 20th March, 11.30am at St Michael’s Church. As a number of the coffee club members intend to go to the funeral this month’s coffee meeting is cancelled.
My year has gone very quickly and our next meeting is the AGM. We all know what this means! Lichfield Tangent Club will be looking for ladies to fill the following posts:
IPC and Raffle Roe Andrew
None of these posts are difficult or onerous so please have a think about them, even as job share if you prefer.
The AGM is Tuesday 2nd April 2019 at The Old Vicarage, Branston. Please remember that our annual subscription is due to be paid in April, Mary will be advising us on how much we will need to pay at the AGM.
I look forward to seeing you there
