July: Chairman’s message

Sadly I couldn’t attend our July meeting as John and I were away on holiday, but Pat reported that everybody had enjoyed the Ghost Walk around Lichfield which was informative, and supper afterwards at 55 Wade Street. Thanks to Jean and Sue for organising the evening.

Our Charity Coffee Morning held on Friday July 12th in aid of Cancer Research UK was a tremendous success, making over £850 for our charity. The final amount is yet to be verified as there is some money still to come. An enormous thank you to Jennie who not only publicised, prepared for and organised this event but also hosted it.

Grateful thanks to all who contributed by bringing cakes, items for our Bring and Buy, books, raffle prizes, cushions etc, and also to those who came and supported us by spending lots of money. Special thanks to Sue for running the B & B, Liz on the raffle, Jenny on cakes, Pearl on cushions and Jean on books, and to the girls making tea and coffee and washing up.

Helen tells me that all subscriptions for this year are now in, is this a record? Thanks to everyone for being so prompt.

May I remind everyone of the 41 Club BBQ on August 14th  to which we are all invited. It is being held at Brenda and Rob Carter’s and costs £7.50 per head. Please contact Mac Cummings or Roger Davies if you would like to attend.

Sue and Jean have arranged our next meeting on Tuesday August 20th which is a visit to Elford Gardens including afternoon tea. I do hope more of you will be able to make it than the small number that have booked in so far.
