Our Christmas meal meeting was once again at The Old Vicarage, Branston, and an excellent start to the festive season. It was well attended, and we all enjoyed the good company and a delicious meal. Pam Smith lit the Candle of Friendship and Liz Weatherhogg said Grace. We were all pleased that May Jones and Dorothy Jones were able to join us.
Jean’s Christmas Quiz had us all searching our childhood memories of Christmas Carols and songs, and was won by Helen D, Jane B and Ellen with the magnificent score of 21/25.
Roe’s bumper Christmas raffle with four prizes was won by Pauline, Helen D, Jackie L and myself. I was lucky to win a pretty Spode star shaped dish which will be much used over the Christmas festivities. Thanks to Pearl and Jean for organising and arranging the evening.
We are pleased to hear that Hazel S is home and recovering from her recent operation. We also send lots of love to Belinda L after her recent diagnosis and to Viv W whose husband Stuart is seriously ill.
Last month I joined the monthly coffee morning group who met at Pam Bolton’s, and attended Tangle’s Dementia Training evening along with other Tangent members, which was very interesting and informative.
The Midlands Regional Lunch is on Saturday February 22nd at Sketchley Grange Hotel, Hinckley. The cost is £39 and the speaker is Sally Barker, who was a contestant on The Voice in 2014. She will be talking about this experience, her mentor Tom Jones and her music career.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday January 7th at The Royal Oak, Kings Bromley, 7.00pm for 7.30pm. The menu will be seasonal, but with plenty of choice, and a cost of £17.50 including coffee and a tip. You should have received details already from Pearl.
As part of March’s Chairman’s meeting I am arranging a tour of Lichfield Cathedral which can include any particular areas of interest that you may have. I would also like to know if you would prefer me to arrange lunch before our visit or afternoon tea afterwards. I would be grateful if you could e-mail me with your preferences and ideas.
More details to follow in the New Year.
Finally my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year
