Happy New Year January 2019
Happy New Year everybody, I trust that all of you had a brilliant festive season and hopefully you’ve not gained too much weight.
Our first meeting was a huge success with 21 members enjoying an evening of relaxation and chatter. I had a Turkey dinner which gave rise to a comment about “Another Turkey dinner” it was the only one that I had this festive season. We were sat at a long table a bit like school refectory dining but a lot more animated, no teachers to shush us.
I am looking forward to 2019. I’m not going to say that I hope it will be a bit quieter than last year for me, as this never seems to happen.
The venue and time of our 5th February meeting has changed from The Old Vicarage at Branston to afternoon tea at Mabel’s Tea Rooms, Curborough, 2pm start. Pearl has circulated all the details and explanation. Our 5th March meeting is now at The Old Vicarage, Branston.
Ladies night is almost upon us, it is Saturday 16th February, details from Andrew Stanton.
I would like to say a very big thank you to Pearl for coming on Tuesday and taking the money and organising the meal cards. Unfortunately Pearl was too unwell to stay and enjoy the evening, we hope she is feeling much better now.
Another very big thank you to Helen for coming to the meeting and organising the raffle which was won by Pat Dimeloe, a lucky lady. Our best wishes to Helen and hope she continues regain her health.
Sadly I let you know about Pat Burbridge’s husband, Roy, passing away on 30th December. I have circulated details about his funeral which is on 30th January.
This is the first time that I have mentioned it but it is only 3 meetings away from our AGM where we will be looking for a new executive committee and chairman. I am really enjoying this year in the chair and can honestly say that being chairman is not difficult or onerous especially with the help and support of the executive committee and Tangent members. Please think about it before the AGM in April.
I look forward to eating lots of cake with you at Mabel’s Tea Rooms on 5th February at 2pm.
PS David would like to come and eat cake as well, no chance-a doggy bag will suffice.
